#WE CAN EXPLAIN#

Science World British Columbia is a non-profit organization which engages British Columbians in science and inspires future science and technology leadership throughout our province.
In fact when I was studying abroad in Vancouver i had the chance to visit the last exhibition "Human Body" , it was pretty amazing to be honestly. The whole Science world is really amazing how they explain scientific things so easily to understand , plus the explanation is through comic things.
Under the selling line "We can explain" , the advertising agency developed several ambient installations around British Columbia. The concept is one of those Big Ideas you can exploit and generate several media installations. The ad agency certainly did that!

YOUR MOUTH SMELLS LIKE CRAP!

Lets face it , the world is changing an so do the businesses. In an industry like advertising where the ideas become the most important thing, its mandatory to keep innovating and be aware of what the people is doing around the world. In the last 5 year we have seen so many new media in advertising, some people create new media and others just recycle that idea and adapt it to their BIG IDEA!
A sewer is common media advertiser use to expose advertising in the streets. But i this case ORBIT showed pretty well a core attribute of their product through a sewer. Plus the cartoon is really funny and catch your attention. I hope you like it!

INTRODUCING GARY FERNANDEZ

Fernandez is a spanish illustator and graphic designer that is becoming really huge in advertising. Now she moved to the beatiful British columbia where her list of clients range from advertising agencies like DDB, McCann Erickson, JWT and Grey to superbrands such as Coca Cola, Nokia and Camel. If you take a closer look to their graphics it will ring a bell inmeadiatly because he has work also for brands like Coca Cola and Nokia

INTRODUCING NEON NEON!

Neon Neon is a collaborative project from producer Boom Bip and Gruff Rhys, who is best known as the frontman for Welsh rock band Super Furry Animals. They began work on the project in October 2006 originally under the moniker Delorean . In March 2008 the duo, by now calling themselves Neon Neon, released a full-length album entitled Stainless Style to generally positive reviews and earned a nomination for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize

BANSKY DID IT AGAIN

We have mentioned before in this blog this high-class artist. This time he is commemorating the three-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with some of their work in the streets. This artist has chosen ruins of the lower ninth ward in New Orleans
Said Banksy of the operation, “Three years after Katrina I wanted to make a statement about the state of the clean-up operation,” and attested that the city’s levee wall offered “the best painting surface in

THRILLER BY AXE

When someone ask me , which campaign is your favorite one, i always say Axe. Its just amazing the personality and uniqueness that ad agencies worldwidely have created. This TVC is no the expection . In order to launch the new product Axe day and Axe night , the Ad Agency Vegaolmosponce made a spot runned by Hernán Ibarra, Walter Aregger y Hernán Ponce.

The video is like a thriller that keeps the viewer stick until the end comes out. At the begginning of the story you dont understand why the post its are there but at the end the TVC reveal the cause of it. The copy is "Uno es apto para todo el público. El otro no".

INROCKUPTIBLES MAGANIZE

I just love every single part of these prints, Argentina is always surprising with the type of thinking in advertising. They literally "think outside of the box". The copy relies in “A magazine about music, movies, books, etc.”

Advertising Agency: DDB, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Executive Creative Directors: Hernan Jauregui, Pablo Battle
Creative Directors: Mariano Jeger, Felipe Vieyra
Copywriter: Nicolas Chiesa

ANDY WARHOL IN THE HOUSE

In order to promote an exhibition of a gallery of Andy Warhol , marketing services provide an unusual way of promote it. They literally place recognized Iconic Cambells Cans making a form as a colum of the museum .It really catch the atention of viewers. Plus you can see it from a really long distance making curiosity statement , once you are near you can really see what the whole deal is about.
Its really good that several bussinesses are doing alternative things to promote their brands and services. In this case a museum is doing it , which is really rare, you might think a museum is more by the book kind of thing, but this example really show every business can do it to provide a different solution and step on the compentence.

AVOID ORANGE SKIN!!!!!!!!

Normally the using of good looking people and models into cosmetics advertising is a must to reclaim the call to action of a brand. The type of media is TVC and prints but there is times when the client the risk to do something innovative and turn the brand into a word of mouth thing. This activation is a really good strategy, the coach was allocated in the several malls where the target was around. The advertising purpose is to communicate that with Nivea you can avoid cellulite. The message is clear and the audience get to know the different texture of the coach.

VESPA MOTORCYCLE!!!!

The 21st century has seen the reentry of Vespas into the North American market, the creation of high-end “touring” Vespas suitable for longer distance drives, and major upgrades in engine efficiency and power. In 2007, Piaggio introduced the MP3, a concept vehicle with two wheels in front and one in the rear. An advanced suspension and computer-controlled fuel injection make the MP3 a very futuristic scooter
This print was made for the entry market of USA, the sense of humor is hillarius,
i just love even more this motorcycles. I wish i have one.

AT THE SUPERMARKET!

Since a few years ago there`s been a lot of changes in business. Of course in some have changed more and some less. In terms of advertising there`s been a lot of changes since 10 years ago, new media have merge, the way of processes work and how the creative ideas come together.
Some of the "Intellectuals" are always complaining because they say a lot of ad agencies are recycling ideas or allocating advertising in where some others have made it before. I think is totally false the last statement because every single day we discover new media to advertise something , its not like you discovered and its going to be yours forever , it is just a simple space as other. What you can really work to make a fresh strategy , is to use that idea and allocate it in a creative way to that media. This example clearly illustrate what im talking about. A lot of ad agencies have conducted advertising in the band of the supermarkets but Milky Way really crack out the idea.

GUERILLA FOR SMART

In order to communicate Smart "fits everywhere", the creative idea was to allocate small stickers between several posters of cars, as it shows. The strategy really capture person`s attention and it transmit perfectly the core benefit of the small car. Its like saying , if you are riding this car it will fit pretty much between no matter what car.

TAKING APPROACH IN BEIJING OLYMPICS

I know everyone is talking about how The Olympics are going, who wins more medals, which athlete will cut through history! Let's leave the sport along side and focus in how big is the awareness in this global event. For marketers this is a great chance to sponsor and advertise their brands. Of course it will be a lot of visual traffic so brands take their best shot in order to create a different kind of way to promote and come out of the normal standards. I think its brilliant how Mini cooper who have dragged traditional Chinese street transport into the 21st century with these great bike-powered Minis. Samsung has been equally creative, giving Olympics' fans a chance to view all of the action from their own "private" alien-like pods. A clear example of taking opportunities that will make a difference in terms of advertising

NIKESTORE LONDON

James Amos Jarvis (born London, 1970) is a British illustrator and toy designer, a pioneer of the soft vinyl designer toy revolution.
Beginning as a designer for the fashion company Silas, Jarvis now creates characters at his own company, Amos Toys, each character with its own personality and background world.
You can see his new piece of art at Niketown store in London. It Highlight his famous cartoonish style , the windows are decorated in a wind wunner bird print. Make sure to stop by if you are near London it`ll worth it.

NIKE "COURAGE"

I was watching TV on a Sunday night when everything is boring and you just want to take long nap to get through and start the week again. But for my surprise out of the blow it comes out this excelent TVC of Nike "Courage". I was really seeing this TVC until end up, it really catch my attention .Its so emotional and it really transmit the feeling side of courage .Nike showed several faces of famous athletes showing streght and fierce during the competition . I think a really good part of the TVC is the music. They chose a really good song to make more sensitive the TVC. It goes from downbeat ending with high beat. Great Commercial

GET INTO THE HYPE

The ZONDERS is a collective of German artist Dieter Dunkel and Wolfgang 3000. Their style is totally inspired in the futuristic view of 80's style. They have made the design for many hype bands in the scene like Anoorak,Russ Chimes and Cryptonites.
Their passion is to create visual reflection of the music they listen. A very good example of what alternative design will look like in a few years.
In another words ,i m very proud of saying they have made the design of one t-shirts for my friends of SICARIO.

INTRODUCING ANDY GILMORE

This visual artist is so dope. This graphic designer born and raised in New York is one of the precursors of geometrical design. Basically all of the design consist in figures with a 3d type of seeing. Hope you like them.

BIG BOOOOOOOOBBBBSSSSSS!

The are several global campaigns you can recognize at the moment you see them! The big idea is so hard deep that the target click immediately. There is something really truth in advertising, in order to transmit a message you have to really dig into one big idea. An idea that you can manipulate , an idea you play across several media and an idea you can renovate through the passing time. There is a good example here, Wonder Bra a global brand for BRA'S communicate just only one BIG BIG BIG idea "BIG BOOBBS" . C'mon which girl dont want to increase the size of their boobs, all of them!!!! Thats one of the many reasons this ad campaign has been so successful.
I love the things WONDER BRA does, its just amazing how they play with media , and this execution is just brilliant, it really communicate the functional and emotional benefit.

HOT BUILDING FOR LOUIS VUITTON

The design for the 10 storey (54 meter tall) flagship Louis Vuitton store in Japan aims to establish an architectural equivalent of the identity of Louis Vuitton in which classical and modern qualities are blended, reinforcing each other. The design inspires the visitor with a feeling of being in the House of Louis Vuitton by celebrating the qualities that make up the essence of the company, its products, its history and its future.

The building follows the structure of a (grand) house: with three levels, each spanning a varying number of split-level floors and each with its own atmosphere and purpose. Each floor is in principle divided into four leaves, which are set in a spiral pattern with a height difference between each leaf of 2.70 meters. Terrace zones, which offer a mix of functions in a garden setting, mark the different vertical sections of the house, with the sense of intimacy growing towards the top of the building.
The location and construction schedule of the ten-storey building are secret for now.

GOOD BYE INNOCENCE!!!

Positioning is a term in advertising that has come to mean the process by which marketers try to create an image or identity in the minds of their target market for its product, brand, or organization. It is the 'relative competitive comparison' their product occupies in a given market as perceived by the target market. Advertisers get this escence of positoning and turn it down into grafic statements and TVC`s.

This prints are just amazing, the brand is trying to positionate in a certain personality of rebeldy . The sense of saying , you can be outkast too, is a sense of creating a community of beliefs behind your communication. The copy says "good bye innocence" clearly a good effort from the part of planning and account. The insights are just exactly what they have to touch, the kids at this age are in this period sensible of finding themselves, finding who will be , finding with what thing your personality might be associated. The brand is giving them exactly this esence of belong to something. Its like saying them, dont play with your toys anymnore become something more exciting and dareful, become the person who set trends to your friends . Plus, the art and the idea are very creative. I like them because they break the convential advertising

THE VERVE: GREATEST COMEBACK OF 2008

The Verve (originally Verve) are an English rock band formed in Wigan, Greater Manchester in 1989 at Winstanley Sixth Form College, by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter Salisbury. Simon Tong later became a member. The band split up in 1999 after their greatest moment in brit pop, when they realesed the single Bitter Sweet Symphony.
On June 26, 2007, the band's reunion was announced by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1. The band, reuniting in their original line-up, announced they would tour in November 2007,Tickets for their six-gig tour in early November 2007 sold out in less than 20 minutes. The band announced that the new album will be titled Forth and is to be released internationally on August 25 and the following day in North America.
This is the very first single "LOVE IS NOISE" after 8 year of absence and its great, definetly greatest comeback in 2008

"MOTEL GARAGE"

YOU DONT WANT TO SLEEP WITH SOMETHING LIKE THESE!

How agressive does your creative idea has to be in order to get a deep impact?
It depend tho, depends in the way you want to communicate with the audience. For some topics is better to create a concience with your target. I really believe social marketing is one a hell of an effort. Its one of the most difficult things to communicate because you not are talking to consumer or attrack more people into the buying proces. What you are doing is create a concience in order to develop a better world, fighting against deseases, stopping the global warming . Whether the topic you are talking is better to get a deep research in the topic, that will give you more material to develop a whole advertising strategy.

As i was saying before, social advertising its really difficult to crack out, but i think these two prints really communicate in an agressive way the message. Clearly they are saying , if you fuck with a person who has HIV , you are fucking with a horrible animal like a scorpion . The prints really stick you for a while, i really respect the creative that choose that kind of advertising.

WE DO WHAT WE WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ad Agencies try to create a personality of a brand based in a Creative Brief. Client is the person in charge of reviewing this Brief and recall some changes according to the brand`s goals. Most of the times the changes that suffer the brief is unbelivable , the client somethimes dont even know what they want. As you can see, there is a lot of restrictions that client call in the creative ideas. But what happen when the client know exactly what they want and communicate that idea to the Ad Agency, a clever idea take off . Well fellas that dont happen a lot in this kind of business but there is times when it happen, like this example im showing you. Cartoon Network is a channel that produce and broadcast programs for tweens. They wanted to get a refresh of the channel through creative advertising. The ad agency came up with the idea of doing something different , something fresh and irreverent. The creatives came up with copy of " We do what we want" and thats exactly they communicate in their TVc`s. Innovative idea that transmit only one thing, irreverency!

To be completly honest, you dont see this kind of freedom in advertising, its just amazing the creative idea and the production . I hope you enjoy them

INTRODUCING HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR!

Im going to post often new bands in the scene that are taking off. This time is for what is called " The band that will brought back Disco Music! Yes ladies and gentleman, you heard well DISCO MUSIC. I know there is not a lot of people who like Disco. But c`mon you have to listen this guys. To begin with , the style of every band member its absolutly catchy, plus the art of the band is so hype and the music just make you go to a dance floor and shine your shoes at it.
Hercules and Love Affair is a musical project from New York based DJ Andy Butler. Members include Nomi, Kim Ann Foxman and Antony Hegarty (lead vocalist in Antony & The Johnsons). It is signed to DFA Records. Their single "Blind" was released on 3 March, 2008, and their debut album (produced by Butler and Tim Goldsworthy) was released on 10 March. Their self-titled album has been critically well-received and charted in the top 40 in several countries. I leave you with this promising band and their new single that is hitting every hot club around the globe.

AN OLD COMEBACK!

Rubiks is an old toy brand that in the 80`s was really hard into the Us Market. Not that many people remember this brand of toys here in Mexico because they never make it all the way here. Plus , with the entrance at the early 90`s of Toy "R" us , the brand Rubiks almost dissapear in the market. Now they are tryingo to come back with new popular toys like sudoku, chess , etc...
For this new communication line, the brand wanted to highlight that they been in the market 25 years and they will stay more. The ad agency clearly knew how to play with this statement. One of the main questions that pop up into the Creatives Heads was , How can you comunicate in a creative way the heritage of brand? Well they really crack up this idea. They focused in one idea , How do the kids that used to play with these toys will look like , if they never give up chilhood. You will see, the ads are just hillarious , the sense of humour is pretty clever.

INTRODUCING MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS!

Since like 1 year i wanted to post something related with music! Who dont love music, is an state that can flip out your sense of humor in seconds.Specially with good music, your heartbeat goes faster and faster until you get an state that everything is perfect. Thats one of the main reasons i wanted to show you one of my favourite bands right now. They are call Midnight Juggernauts, originally from are a Melbourne based band. The best part of this dudes its that they are like a normal band but they sound like thousand horses running all over a field.
Rolling Stone said they were as "David Bowie if his Berlin Trilogy was a collaboration with Kraftwerk and Faust." The people involved are Vincent Vendetta, Andy Juggernaut and Daniel Stricker. They were personally invited by French act Justice to tour North America with them in late 2007 leaving their mark at the CMJ music festival , later playing with !!!, Holy Fuck, Crystal Castles, Klaxons and label mate Surkin across the UK and Europe. Their debut album, Dystopia, was released in Australia in late 2007, with an international release with additional material to follow in April and May of 2008. I leave you guys with this amazing song called !Shadows!. The video was shotted a few months ago and the thematic goes pretty well with the lyrics of the songs.

FLASH YOUR VODKA WTH KANYE!

In the last post i showed to you the Tvc's for the Absolut Campaign. They chose one public figure to represent the creative idea of the campaign. Kanye West is a really good rapper with high class that is giving a different approach to the brand.
The use of public figures in advertising has to match the core goal of the advertising campaign. This time they are using this fancy rapper to connect right in the bottom with the audience. This is a really clever move for Absolut. I hope they really keep going with this whole concept "In an absolut world"

IN AN ABSOLU WORDL!

In one of the last posts I've mentioned some of the work of the newest campaign for Absolut the copy is IN AN ABSOLUT WORLD.They just released the print campaign , but this time they shot a TVC using Kanye West. Also this hip hop artist work in the idea of the commercial. I think its great to asociate a brand to an artist
I just have no word for this commercial ,check it out

GETTING THE DOUBLE SENSE!

Very clever print ads! As you can see the way of Creatives playing both meanings really work well. The ad make you stop for a second and think whats behind it. The knowledge of how to allocate the items and the way of how Creatives associate produce an incredible result.

In anothe words , this type of ads are not coincidence , the creative team do it on purpose. Most of the times this is an excellent way of producing word of mouth type of advertising. Creatives reach a way of combining items and give them a new hole purpose. I leave you with this two pieces. Hope you like them

WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR BREAKFAST!

hi everybody , it`s been a while with out posting something. Im very proud of saying you i have a really demanding job in advertising. Im working for BBDO in my country Mexico so i dont have time for pretty much nothing but i promise i will be bringing you clever advertising than ever. I was looking in the net for innovative advertising , so i found this clear example of how advertising can work effectiely with technology. Macdonals wanted to promote the daily fresh eggs at the breakfast service. So Leo Burnett in chicago came with the idea of develop an outdoor that change across the time communicating the core objetive of the dispositive. ITs pretty simple the egg end up open at 6:00 am to 10:30 am where the time of break fast ends. As you can see the time line in advertising can set up the determination fo a campaign. Thats why you have to come up always with a time table where you set up dead lines
